I am fascinated both by the marks people have made and the surface texture of natural and manmade elements.  There is something intensely moving about these marks and materials surviving or being preserved over the centuries.  We often don't know their meaning, but they reflect the fundamental need of people to communicate and connect with each other.  "Fragment ll" was longlisted for the Chaiya Art Award 2023.  Part of a series exploring pre-Columbian motifs, this is oils and cold wax on cradled panel, set in a painted tray frame.  Overall size 28 x 23cm.  This painting will be available at Wisbech Art Gallery from 13 April to 18 May.
