I am a contemporary painter working from my garden studio in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens where I have lived for over 30 years.
In my paintings I use cold wax medium with oil paints to create layers into which I add surface texture, marks and lines. My paintings are about weathering, ancient lines, marks of age, reflections of constant change, the passage of time, and the presence and absence of people. I am currently focussing on shorelines, rock surfaces and geological formations, fascinated by the minutiae of detail and the immensity of geological mass of our precious environment which we inhabit and impact both locally and globally.

Originally a figurative painter, I am now using oils with cold wax medium in a looser style, exploring the combination of figurative and abstracted elements sitting together within a painting.
I am continually interested in painting the human face, exploring light, planes, contours, capturing mood and character, and where possible exploring the interconnectedness of person and place.
Pablo Picasso:
"the artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place, from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web"
